ChaLEAN Extreme Review


ChaLEAN Extreme is the latest weight loss and physical training program that Chalene Johnson has developed with Beachbody. And while the name may not fill you with excitement for this product, the fact that Chalene Johnson is behind it should.

Chalene has been involved in fitness since childhood. She began studying dance and martial arts at age three, attended her mom’s “Jazzercise” classes throughout childhood, and then studied Tae Kwon Do, dance, and aerobics while in college. When she moved to California in the 90s, Chalene began teaching fitness classes that combined the sexiness of dance, the hip feel of funk, and the power and strength of kickboxing—all set to the latest music. These classes were the beginning of her breakout fitness product Turbo Jam which remains one of the most popular in-home exercise programs in the country.

Chalene is now in her late 30s, and ChaLEAN Extreme is her response to the challenge of staying lean and fit as you grow a bit older and your metabolism begins to slow. The key to this program lies in a simple idea: MUSCLE BURNS FAT. So, if you want to burn fat and achieve or maintain a long, lean, and sculpted physique you need to build muscles. ChaLEAN Extreme uses proven techniques to shift your fat-burning focus from cardio to strength/resistance training. As you increase your level of resistance training, you’ll be building more muscle, and that will supercharge your metabolism to for maximum fat burning.

Exercise Recommendations
ChaLEAN Extreme is an excellent program for both men and women who are healthy enough for strenuous physical activity. And unlike some fitness programs, you don’t need to already be in great shape before you can begin.

ChaLEAN Extreme features 15 workouts that gradually ramp up the intensity over three phases. Phase 1, or “Burn,” gets you started lifting weights and features moderate training workouts for upper and lower body. Phase 2, or “Push,” moves you beyond your comfort zone with heavier weights that kick-up the growth of fat-burning muscles. Phase 3, or “Lean,” introduces a completely new set of routines and dynamic moves to keep your metabolism in high-gear. During each phase of this strength and resistance training, you’ll also be doing intense cardio workouts and flexibility routines to rejuvenate and lengthen the muscles you’ve been working.

If this sounds like a lot of work, it is. ChaLEAN Extreme is designed for you to work out six days a week, and for the very best results you will do both a resistance workout and a cardio or flexibility workout each day. But the work definitely brings rewards. By following workout guidelines of ChaLEAN Extreme, members of a test group lost an astonishing 60% of their body fat in just 90 days. And many ChaLEAN Extreme users have lost between 25 and 50 pounds in just a few short months.

ChaLEAN Extreme is convenient to work at home, although you will need some equipment. A resistance band is provided with the package, but you’ll also need some weights and a mat.

Diet Recommendations
ChaLEAN Extreme is primarily a fitness program rather than a diet plan. The program does, however, provide you with a Fat-Burning Food Guide that shows you what to eat at each phase of the program to maximize your results and a Healthy Eats DVD in which Chalene shares recipes and tips for healthy eating.

You won’t need to swear-off your favorite foods—“all things in moderation”—or purchase any special foods, meal replacements, or dietary supplements while working ChaLEAN Extreme. The diet and nutrition recommendations are pretty basic. If you follow the recommendations you’ll be eating a low fat diet that increases your carbs as you progress through the phases. But remember, this is an eating plan designed to accompany the intense, muscle building workouts of ChaLEAN Extreme. It is not an all-purpose diet for all people at all times.

ChaLEAN Extreme is a terrific fitness option for men and women who are healthy enough for sustained and demanding physical activity. The program builds up nicely, so you can begin even if you are not in very good physical condition. But in order to see the best results you need to have a high level of commitment and be willing to work out six days a week. That means this might not be the best option for people who are especially busy or are not able to work out quite that frequently.

If you work the program as intended, however, you can see truly dramatic results quickly. A test group of ChaLEAN Extreme users lost a remarkable 60% of their body fat in just 90 days, and many users report weight loss of between 20 and 50 pounds after just a few months.
